Third Stop on Voter Crusade to Get Out Vote November 8

The Black Women's Roundtable launched the third week of its #Power of the Sister Vote (POSV) "State of Emergency" 30-Day National Voter Crusade in Florida October 29 with a series of community-based events aimed at getting out the Black Vote November 8 including a GOTV Roundtable at the Children’s Services Center and a block party at the John H Jackson Community Center in Orlando. The Black Women's Roundtable is the women and girls empowerment arm of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP). “We realize the state of Florida is pivotal to determining who will be the next President, but for Floridians the issues of social justice, criminal justice reform and economic parity are also critical, said Salandra Benton, convener of the Florida National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and the Florida Black Women’s Round Table.
“Black women are a powerful influence when it comes to getting our families and friends out to vote and we are the
secret sauce‟ to who gets elected to the White House, Congress, state and local elections” said, Melanie L. Campbell, national convener, Black Women‟s Roundtable. According to the U.S. Census, Black women have been the most consistent voting bloc as a demographic since 2006. In both 2008 and 2012, Black women redefined voting history by becoming the largest demographic group to cast ballots in an election.
