The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) will host a Post-Election Media Briefing and Roundtable Discussion to analyze black voter turn out in 2008 and define an agenda for the First 100 Days of the new administration, Friday Nov. 7, 2008, 9:00 A.M. – 1 P.M., at the National Press Club in DC. Faye Anderson, Anderson@Large, and Gary Flowers, Black Leadership Forum, will moderate.

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s (NCBCP) Unity ’08 partners will monitor problems at the polls and black voter turnout at their Unity ‘08 Election Day Command Center on Tuesday Nov. 4, 2008. National leaders will assemble at the historic National Council of Negro Women’s (NCNW) headquarters, 633 Pennsylvania Ave NW, to receive reports and trends from key battleground states including: OH, FL, VA, NC, PA, GA, LA, MS, MI, MO, AL, AND TX.

In an effort to circumvent voter suppression tactics and confusion at the polls, award winning actress, Angela Bassett; Tonight Show bandleader, Kevin Eubanks; actress, LisaRaye McCoy Misick; and singer/actress, Brandy Norwood; are among the list of celebrities voicing public service announcements urging people to vote early or be first in line on Election Day. The joint initiative between American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) and the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) marks the second phase of their nonpartisan radio campaign aimed at ensuring African Americans cast a ballot that counts on Election Day.

Reverend Cessar Scott, executive minister of the Baptist General Convention of Virginia (BGC) has announced an agreement with the Virginia Unity '08 Campaign to implement "Black Voter Empowerment Sundays," starting September 14 through October 5, 2008. With a goal to engage their 1100 African American churches throughout the state of Virginia, the move is part of a nationwide nonpartisan effort on behalf of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) to organize a ministry of civic participation that galvanizes the Black community to register, verify their names on the voter rolls, and vote in the November 2008 presidential election.

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s (NCBCP) Unity ’08 Coalition and Alabama Black Youth Vote! (BYV) will bring their message to register, verify, and VOTE FIRST to Birmingham, Monday October 6, 2008, with a Justice Speak Out featuring Jeff Johnson, of BET and the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The town hall type forum traveling across the country to mobilize young voters will stop at Lawson State College followed by a visit to Miles College.

Superstar recording artist and actor Bow Wow will show his support for our nation's upcoming elections with a voter registration initiative, Walk Across America. Commencing in Atlanta, GA on October 1st, Walk Across America will take Bow Wow and other citizens who are excited about the 2008 elections to cities across the United States in a nonpartisan effort to encourage people, especially the youth, to participate in the contests happening this November and the political process overall.

Anticipating the largest voter turnout in history - and ensuing problems at the polls - the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) left no stone unturned during a three-day Operation Big Vote Training Academy held in New Orleans last week to train field organizers on voter registration, education, mobilization, and voter protection.
