National Coalition Responds to Proposed Ban on Internet Access Taxes

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) is encouraged by the House and Senate conference committee’s approval to provide a permanent extension of the Internet Tax Freedom Act.

NCBCP President & CEO and BWR Convener Melanie Campbell issued the following statement:

“Access to the Internet is essential to reducing the socio-economic gaps that threaten to leave our communities behind. The Internet serves as a primary engine for entrepreneurship, employment, innovation, and economic development. It has also been a tool for civic engagement and community organizing. The benefits of the Internet for African Americans women and other underserved communities is profound. We need to eliminate any barriers that would hinder Internet access and adoption; therefore Congress must follow through on this bi-partisan act to ban Internet access taxes.”
